Japanese Weird Tales Series - Dying Alone

Updated on.

I heard this from a friend who works for a real estate company.
The occupant of one house died alone in his room and was not found until a week later.
As the police would arrive to investigate, the matter could not be hidden from other tenants, and many of them came to clamor for rent refund, rent reduction, and so on.
In the midst of this, the person in the room next door to the dead occupant called.
I thought for sure he was coming to ask for a rent reduction or something like that, but I didn't expect him to just keep emphasizing that he simply just wanted to know when the person next door actually died.
Although he could not divulge detailed personal information, his friend told him that the person had probably been dead for about a week.
The tenant who called:
"I only called to confirm that I had been dead for a while, but that's just not possible! All this time I've heard the people next door coming home, watching TV, going to the bathroom, and so on, as usual!"
Translation: the soundproofing in this house seems a bit poor.
