The Great Exorcist Incident Book: Walter Halleran (Final)

Generally speaking, there are several steps in an exorcism ceremony, although they vary according to the habits of each exorcist, but none of them will deviate from these steps. The first step is to confirm whether the person is possessed by an evil spirit, and the second step is that the evil spirit will pretend to be the victim and plead for forgiveness in the tone of the victim's voice. The main purpose of this step is to make the evil spirit say its name and determine the identity of the evil spirit. The third step is that once the evil spirit is recognized, it will interrupt the second step and start to mutilate the body of the possessed person, for example, carving words on the possessed person's body, and even some horrible visions will appear. The fourth step is that the possessed person will emit inhuman voices, which are the voices that the evil spirit brings up to the earth from the hell, and which cannot be emitted by ordinary people.

In fact, the bishop had already reached the fifth step before his death, a step in which the exorcist had to engage in a final battle with the evil spirit within the possessed person. When the evil spirit was pushed to the edge, it would produce some shocking behavior or illusion, and if the exorcist's willpower was not strong enough, not only would the possessed person's life be in danger, but also the people present would be harmed. However, the evil spirit rebound force is the amount is getting bigger and bigger.

That's when the lights in the ward, one by one, burst. Fr. William Burden and Walter Halleran, were cut on their skin in many places by the shards of the light bulbs. The ward was darkened by the explosion of all the bulbs. At that moment, Rolandoy's eyes suddenly emitted a yellow light, which was even more horrifying in the darkness.
Walter Halleran, in the darkness, after lighting a candle, suddenly saw Rolandoy, who had twisted many of his restraints and was sitting on the hospital bed, muttering in a language unknown to him, in a low tone almost impossible for a human being to pronounce. Father William Burden continued to read from the Bible and sprinkled holy water on Rolandoi's body again. Walter Halleran took the crucifix, placed it on his forehead, and chanted along with him.
At that moment, the bed suddenly shook, and in the hospital room, there were a lot of cries and even the sound of hellish chains was heard. Undaunted, the two men continued to perform the exorcism. Fr. William Borden began to drip sweat all over his body. Walter Halleran saw this and cried out, but it turned out that what Fr. William Borden was dripping was not sweat, but blood. Drops of blood were coming out of the pores all over his body.
Shortly afterward, Father William Burden fell to the floor and passed out. Walter Halleran was left alone, reading from the Bible. He was still holding the crucifix close to Lorenzo's forehead with one hand, while with the other he was holding holy water and sprinkling it on the bed. Lorentoy's body was bruised again, his whole body was writhing in agony, and only a few straps were left to bind him tightly.
At that moment small objects in the ward flew up and smashed into Walter Halleran's head, and he bled out on the spot. He did not let up, however, and ordered the evil spirit to leave Lorendoy's body. More than twenty-four hours into the ritual, Walter Halleran used up his last ounce of strength and then fell unconscious.
It was noon the next day when Walter Halleran woke up again. The bishop was informed by the paramedics that his death had been confirmed and that the cause of death was cardiac paralysis. Father William Burden's attack was of unknown cause, but was under control and not life threatening. He was, however, curious to know if Rolandoy had succeeded in his exorcism, and the paramedics told him that Rolandoy had long since followed his parents out of the hospital, and that no one knew where they had gone. According to medical staff, Rolandoi's behavior was no longer as violent as it had been when he first entered the hospital, but his face was expressionless and his eyes were a disturbing shade of yellow. His parents, like him, left without a word after the procedure.
Although Walter Halleran doesn't know if Rolandoy's exorcisms were successful after sacrificing a number of exorcists, he once again encounters evil possession when he travels to Vietnam again to fight with the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War.
